on three occasions over the years i have left a light on or something before a trip having gone to grab something out of the car quickly before leaving and i just have trickle charged it back to life and it never skips a beat. it has sat dead for a month come back trickle it over night and right back as new again. i bought the battery soon after i got the car about 5 years ago now and its been rock solid ever since. i knew a few guys working at sears and when people would bring back an optima after killing it and wanting a new battery because the optima doesnt take well to alternator charging they then take the optima's home, trickle charge them and use them in their own cars. i have never heard of anything but rock solid performance from optima, from anybody i know who has one. everybody i know who has a boat has one. seems that people bash them on 2nd or 8th accounts playing telephone with one another, and not on actually having owned one. seems if the battery was actually that bad to actually perform worse than a standard battery it would covered under warranty, or maybe there was a bad lot or whatever.
